Sacred Embers

Something that is very important to me is something I began after my brother David lost his battle with cancer. I have been an artist all of my life and fused glass was something I worked with for a long time. At the time of losing my brother I started my line called Sacred Embers. Beautiful remembrances created with dichroic fused glass and the ashes of your beloved person or pet.

Then I also began doing Sacred Embers with hair of living people when someone is going to be gone for some time or if someone doesn't have ashes but they have a lock of hair.

And another idea came to me later....using sand from a special trip to remember that event.

What it all boils down to is the circle of life. The amazing and wonderful things that brings with it and through all of this I have been given the opportunity to meet special people and hear stories of lives lived and lost.

I have to say that this past weekend when I was able to go to Santa Clara University to visit my daughter and then attend her Alpha Phi Red Dress Gala was more than amazing! I am so lucky to have Anjelica in my life. I believe that every mom and daughter would love to have the relationship that we enjoy.

I thank the Universe for blessing me with the gift of Anjelica and watching her grow into the amazing woman that she is becoming!

(By the way, I'm going to start making entries more regularly!

This is called "Buddha Dream". Actually my first attempt at collage and I'm quite happy with it. I created this after my brother losing his fight with cancer and I needed bright colors and peace. That is what this painting/collage represents to me. I know you can't really see it but the crown is raised and embossed with metallic silver embossing powder. R.I.P. David. 08-23-65 to 08-20-08. You were the most amazing brother ever. I will miss your quick comments, your advise, your smile and emails. I won't miss your love, because I know that will never go away. I will only miss the physical of you being here. You were the smartest man I have ever known and the most generous and honest. You were the most amazing husband and father, a treat to watch. You helped me realize so many things in my life and about myself, even just recently. I know you will forever be on my shoulder. Well, my daughter and went to her orientation at Santa Clara University! What an exhaustive but most amazing 2 days! That school is incredible! Not to mention how gorgeous it is. Initially she was getting some cold feet, but to see the excitement on her face when we stepped foot through the main gate was worth millions. And the more of the orientation she went through the more in love with the school she is! This will be a huge change for both of us since it has always been the two of us as a team.............since the beginning. Now the road is filled with wonderful journeys for both of us! Go Broncos!

Today is my daughter Anjelica's 18th birthday! I can hardly believe it! I have to say that I have done a pretty darn good job raising her. She is beautiful, intelligent, thoughtful, generous, goal directed, happy, funny, loyal, stubborn, loving.............I could not have had a better child or best friend in my life! She is truly my best piece of "artwork".

Another Artshow!

Well, this weekend is another artshow.............the holiday one. I have a couple of "pre-buyers" and I am taking that as a good omen for the rest of the show. This time I have some of my new PMC pendants and necklaces. It will be interesting to see how they are received. I believe well, since one has already sold!
This is also the show that for any buyers from Charles Wright Academy I am donating 10% of their purchases to the Charles Wright Academy Senior class of 2008 for their Senior party!

Things are very exciting around here! Almost overwhelming! I took 4 jewelry classes............I have never taken a jewelry class in my life! I learned so much and have so many new things to do. Work has been very busy........making LOTS of signs! And I answered an ad asking for someone that can paint the human figure. I ended up getting the job and have signed a contract! I knew that starting at the beginning of this year that life would be good and it will continue to be greater and greater by the day!

Well, life is full of opportunities if you look for them! My artshow went great considering I virtually did no advertising for it! That is a good feeling. I answered an ad for a high end health club needing an artist that can paint figures, I have a meeting with them on Monday! I love painting the human form so I'm very excited about this opportunity! Today I was sitting and waiting for my daughter in the parking lot. I started a charcoal drawing. It felt really good. I'm trying to work up to a piece a day. I have a ways to go, but they want and effort is there. I created several pieces of jewelry that were ordered today. Each one-of-a-kind, just requiring the person to tell me about the recipient. They turned out beautifully.

Well, I woke up this morning thinking it was Wednesday. So I have an extra day. I bought new canvases the other day, so with luck I will be able to paint something. Must get the regular work out of the way first.

Today WWAO asked "What Does Art Mean to You?" This was my answer:
To me art is what I "am". Creating art is literally all I ever wantedto do, even as a small child. There were always other avenues I hadto take in the "real world" in order to pay bills, etc. but I wasalways an artist and always created........and now I am an artist! Art always gave me the outlet to express myself, regardless of what Iwas thinking or feeling. And to look at others' art is such aninspiration. To appreciate art is something that everyone in theworld should learn. It is as important as appreciating a sunrise orseeing your new baby in the moonlight. Art is another sense. It is"air". Art is a smile when things seem so gloomy. Art can transportyou to another place and let you realize new
